Through its subsidiary, PT Bukit Energi Investama (BEI), PT Bukit Asam Tbk explored synergies in the development of Solar Power Plants, new renewable energy utilization, and other electricity service business opportunities with PT Krakatau Chandra Energi (KCE). President Director of PT Bukit Energi Investama (BEI) Biverli Binanga signed a Memorandum of Understanding with President Director of PT Krakatau Chandra Energi (KCE) Erri Dewi Riani in Jakarta on January 16, 2024.
Through this agreement, PT Bukit Asam Tbk wants to encourage business practices that have a positive impact on natural sustainability, including economic impacts. As for PT Krakatau Chandra Energi (KCE), this agreement is an effort to continue providing infrastructure solutions in the fields of power generation, electricity services, and the renewable energy sector.
Sustainable business is a must for PT Bukit Asam Tbk., which wants to continue to contribute to maintaining national energy security. The company’s expansion into the renewable energy business is in line with MIND ID Group’s Noble Purpose.
“MIND ID is targeted to increase energy consumption from renewable energy to reach 40.2 million giga joules (GJ) by 2030,” said MIND ID Corporate Secretary Heri Yusuf.
From that target, the MIND ID Group noted that it had consumed up to 33.5 million GJ of renewable energy in 2021. It plans to increase by 20% by 2030 and is predicted to increase by 57% or 52.5% by 2060.
The prediction is based on the government’s aspiration to achieve net zero emission (NZE) by 2060. MIND ID Group continues to be committed to supporting the government’s aspirations, one of which is through the expansion and acceleration of the company’s energy into the renewable energy business.
MIND ID Group also continues to encourage the achievement of zero carbon emissions through several strategies that have been and will be carried out in the next few years. The company has a strategy formulated based on environmentally friendly and renewable energy principles.
MIND ID implements energy efficiency in mining and processing activities to reduce energy consumption and operational costs.
In addition, MIND ID also uses green technology in the mining process, which is also an implementation of good mining practices. The company conducts environmentally friendly open-pit mining, applies high standards to promote energy conservation and emission reduction, and implements an energy management system to optimize consumption and reduce emissions.
Not only that, MIND ID also educates and communicates to all stakeholders and the public about the benefits of the energy transition. Regarding existing programs in the mining sector, MIND ID increases the composition of biofuels, electrifies mining fleets, electrifies supporting transportation equipment, develops the use of renewable energy through the construction of solar power plants and hydropower plants as part of efforts to encourage the use of clean energy, optimizes energy management systems, and digitizes energy and emissions management.
