Balance, In order to realize better, inclusive, and sustainable tin mining governance, MIND ID through PT Timah Tbk is developing a mining partnership pattern by directly involving the community. This partnership is supported by the implementation of the mining Control System (MCOS) application, a digital system designed to regulate the registration and selection process for partnerships in a transparent and structured manner. This step is part of MIND ID's commitment to implementing the principles of good mining practice and empowering communities in PT Timah's operational areas, especially in Bangka Belitung. The MCOS system also acts as a monitoring tool to suppress illegal mining activities that have been rampant in offshore mining areas, including around the Production Suction Vessel.Offshore tin mining is a sector that has a high risk of illegal practices, so it requires a good and collaborative governance-based approach. Through this partnership, communities that are members of the community mining scheme are given guidance to operate according to technical standard operating procedures (SOP) and prioritize work safety. As a form of supervision and support for this initiative, MIND ID President Commissioner, Fuad Bawazier together with President Director, Maroef Sjamsoeddin and the board of directors and commissioners of MIND ID conducted a working visit to PT Timah Tbk on Tuesday, June 3, 2025. During the visit, the leadership directly reviewed the offshore mining locations and production units, including the operation of suction vessels, to ensure the implementation of accountable and transparent corporate governance. The partnership pattern implemented by PT Timah not only opens economic access for the community, but also fosters a productive and sustainable tin industry ecosystem. BUMDes and community groups that have met the licensing requirements according to regulations are involved in the production process. Each pontoon unit in this scheme is required to employ local workers as operators and supervisors, so that the economic benefits can be felt in real terms by local residents.Maroef said that strengthening this system reflects MIND ID's commitment to good governance, as well as ensuring that every benefit of mining activities is felt directly by the community around the mine, especially in Bangka Belitung."With this approach, MIND ID hopes that the digital partnership and supervision model through MCOS can be an example of sustainable and inclusive mining practices in Indonesia," he said.
